Am I at Risk for Diabetes?
You may have diabetes & not even know it. Therefore, it’s important to know the risk factors of diabetes & see your healthcare practitioner routinely for screening.
Risk factors include:
- Family history of diabetes (parent, sibling, grandparent, etc.)
- Being a member of a high risk group (Indigenous, Hispanic, South Asian, Asian, African decent)
- Being overweight
- High blood pressure and/or high cholesterol
- Giving birth to a baby weighing greater than 9lbs
- Prediabetes
